In order to access and work within your hosted applications, Blackbaud suggests confirming a few basic settings within your browser. This solution discusses he basic browser settings needed in order to ensure the most complete functionality in Blackbaud Hosting Services.

Note: For the most updated list of supported browsers in Blackbaud Hosting Services, please review the current System Requirements 

After installing Citrix, the following settings will need to be configured for all users in the appropriate browsers to ensure the most complete functionality:

Internet Explorer 

        Version 8 and above: Configure your datacenter URL in this browser for Trusted Sites and Pop-ups:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. From the menu bar, select Tools, Internet Options, Security, Trusted Sites, Sites.
  3. Add the URL for your datacenter.
  4. From the menu bar, select Tools, Internet Options, Privacy tab.
  5. Confirm this is not set to Block All Cookies.
  6. While in the Privacy tab, if Turn on pop-up blocker is marked, click Settings and add your datacenter URL from step 3.
  7. Select Add, Close.

        Version 10 and above: (in addition to configuration for version 8 and above): 

  1. Click the Tools option (Gear icon).
  2. Select Compatibility View Settings.
  3. In the textbox, enter blackbaudhosting.com.
  4. Select Add (No wildcard characters are needed).
  5. Select Close to save the changes.
  6. Close and reopen all browser windows.

Firefox

Version 28 and above: 

  1. Open Firefox
  2. From the menu bar select Tools, Options, Security Tab.
    For Mac users: Select Preferences, Options, Security tab.
  3. Across from Warn me when sites try to install add-ons, click the Exceptions button.
  4. Add the URL for your datacenter.
  5. Click Allow,OK.
  6. From the menu bar, go to Tools, Options, Content.
  7. Across from Block pop-up windows, select the Exceptions button.
  8. Add the URL for your datacenter.
  9. Click Allow, OK.


        Version 30 and above (in addition to configurations for version 28 and above): 

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Select the Open Menu button (Three horizontal lines beneath the X to close out).
  3. Select Add-ons, Plug-ins.
  4. Click the dropdown menu to the right of Citrix ICA Client and/or Citrix Receiver Plug-in.
  5. Select Always Activate.
  6. If Citrix URL-Redirection Helper Plug-in is present, Always Activate.
  7. Close all browsers and reopen for these changes to apply.

        Version 38.0 and above (in addition to configurations for previous versions):

  1. ​Open Firefox.
  2. Select the Open Menu button (Three horizontal lines beneath the X to close out).
  3. Select Options, Applications.
  4. Click the dropdown to the right of Citrix ICA Client.
  5. Select “Use Citrix Connection Manager (default)”.
  6. Close all browsers and reopen for these changes to apply.

If either browser tries to open the Citrix client itself, attempts to launch a third-party program, or asks to choose or browse to an application to use:

  1. Click on your Start Menu
  2. Choose Default Programs
  3. Choose Associate a file type or protocol with a program
  4. Scroll down in this list of extensions until you see “.ica”
  5. Click on Change Program…
  6. In the new window, click on “Browse…”
  7. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\ICA Client
    Note: On a 32-Bit Operating System instead of Program Files (x86) you will simply see Program Files
  8. Select “wfcrun32” and click open
  9. You will be taken back to the “Open with” window.
  10. Click OK

 

Chrome 

        Version 36.0 and above:

Chrome, while not officially supported by Blackbaud will work with the correct and current iterations of the Citrix client, but will exude specific behavior.

  • NOTE: Often, Google Chrome will bring you to the Citrix installation screen. This is a known communication issue between Chrome and Citrix. Please always choose “Skip to logon” if you know Citrix has been installed on your machine and continue logging in.


      Exceptions can also be made for pop-ups in Chrome: 

  1. From the customize/control button in Chrome, select Settings
  2. Click the blue hyperlink at the bottom of page: Show advanced settings…
  3. Under Privacy, click Content Settings button.
  4. Scroll to find Pop-ups. If Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended) is selected, click Manage Exceptions
  5. Add the URL for your datacenter, then choose Allow from the drop-down menu, then click OK.

       Exceptions for the page made in Chrome: 

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to your datacenter’s URL for Boston, Orange CountyVancouver, or Sydney.
  2. In the Address bar all the way to the right, click the puzzle piece with the x on it if it is present
  3. Click ‘Always allow plug-ins on Login(1,2,3,appsca).blackbaudhosting.com (depending on the datacenter you log into), and then click Done.

Safari

        Version 5.0.6 and above:

Safari, while not officially supported by Blackbaud will work with the correct and current iterations of the Citrix client. Pop ups may need to be disabled. Please note: Exceptions cannot be made in Safari as in Internet Explorer and Firefox. To disable Pop-ups for your Blackbaud Hosting Services session:

  1. From Safari, Preferences, click Security
  2. Turn off “Block pop-up windows”.
